WHAT IS THE PROS AND CONS OF BEING AN STE STUDENT IN NEGROS OCCIDENTAL HIGH SCHOOL
Hey! It's us and we're one of the many students from the STE program of Negros Occidental Highschool. With that let's start on what is the meaning of "STE".
The Science,
Technology, and Engineering (STE) program is a special curricular program in Philippine Basic Education that aims to meet the needs of
learners and provide learning opportunities in the fields of science,
technology, and engineering.
With that out of the way lets start with the Pros of being an STE student
Pros of being an STE student
No one can deny that there are plenty of advantages a
student can get when he or she is in this curriculum. Such as the advanced
education being provided. For example, instead of them learning lessons for 1
ste-year students, they'll be 1 year advanced. Not to mention the additional
subjects: biotechnology, research, information and communication technology
(CT), environmental science, and so on. Science, technology, and engineering
prepare students for college in such a way that they won't have a hard time in
the future. Not only that, but students can exercise, broaden their minds, and,
of course, see their potential in the field of science.
Sadly, we cannot hide the fact that there are also a lot of cons to being an STE student. One of these is the stress that students face in their subjects, juggling more than 10 subjects and making sure that their performance is up to their expectations. Not only that, but the pressure that they feel—the need to be better than others, the need to be as smart as their fellow schoolmates —not to mention the fact that they need to balance their time between studying and having time for themselves.
We are done with the main body, now will share our opinions regarding being a STE student
As a fellow STE student, I'd say there are so many learnings I obtained that not a lot of students get. And 1 1 m glad that I have the opportunity to learn advanced studies that will help me later on in the future. Yet, despite all that, I have difficulty keeping up with everything. I wish to have fun and let my mind rest just like any other regular student, but I am not able to do those things since there are things I must accomplish before having fun. Back when I was in my first year, I felt over the moon, like everything was turning out great. Later on, I suddenly felt the urge to just give up. Everything was so fast, I didn't even have time to think. Next thing you know, tears are rolling down my cheek, regretting every decision I made. Days and nights when I'd be staring at the ceiling, wondering why I was in this kind of program
Last but not the least we will give you an advice if you want to be a STE student
We're not here to discourage you. We're here to tell you the truth. The STE curriculum is wonderful, especially for students who love to learn and use their brains in calculating and solving. But then again, before you decide to be here, always think of your mental state. Are you ready? Can you handle a competition? Can you handle the pressure? If you can, then you're ready, if you can't, double-check yourself. Decisions are important in life, one wrong move and you're kicked to the curb. So think it out for a day or two, even a week.
That's all! Thanks.
